Alex Swanson was born and raised in Oshkosh, WI. She moved to Providence, RI to attend Brown University, where she graduated in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Ecology. Before starting her Masters degree at SPIA, she served for three years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Panama, working on environmental conservation initiatives in rural communities. While at Princeton, she interned for the White House Council on Environmental Quality’s Land & Water Conservation team. She is passionate about using the best available science to craft evidence-based policies that can tackle the big environmental and climate challenges we face today. Alex hopes to focus on conservation and climate resiliency policy when she finishes her Masters degree in 2022.
